Just returned from Vermont. French men discovered this territory and named it les Vert Monts, founded the state capital and named it Monpelier and helped USA to break free from England. As a way of thanking them, the locals pronounce the capital's name "MonpElye" and call the fried potato freedom fries. We saw the islands on the Lake Champlain, drank local wine, tasted cheddar cheese and maple syrup, almost hit a deer on a highway, had fun watching the rabbits playing in the grass and a fox that broke into our trash bag at night. Managed to start a campfire during the shower/thunderstorm, ate wild raspberries, smelled peppermint and brought home catmint (Volen'ka approved of it already by eating the leaves and stems). Saw fireworks on the beach; once we got back to MA, we could see fireworks in five different directions at the same time (so much for them being prohibited in the state)
Is there anything interesting happening tonight?
